Lets take a few minutes and discuss how to improve your food security and your food supply foot print. You don't have to be completely reliant upon the grocery store. Lets talk about some ways to improve your food security.

CSAs (community supported agriculture) are a great way to source more of your food locally. There are several websites that provide listings of local farms that provide a CSA product. LocalHarvest.org is a good example of a website that can connect you with a local CSA.

Lets walk through and take a look at every campsite in the Family Camping area. If you are trying to figure out which site to select. This might be a good start. I also take you down the connector trail from the camping area to the picnic area and lake. This isn't an exciting video at all, but if you are planning to camp at Millpond State Park then it should help you select a site. It really is a nice place to camp with campsites that are a nice distance from each other. Enjoy!

Lets talk about the downstream effects of censorship. How cultural tropes like "don't talk about race or religion" make it easy for censorship to take hold and destroy a country.

Consistently putting in a modest effort is the way to succeed. I started consistently working out in 2015. Over time my diet has also improved. I’m still a long way from “eating clean” but I’m more aware now of what I’m eating and how much.

It is important to note that I don’t usually workout for the sake of fitness alone. My efforts to stay fit are designed to

1) improve my quality of life
2) enable me to participate in outdoor and athletic activities

It is also important to note that I work out about 45 minutes, 3 times a week. Depending on my schedule, I’ll supplement that with walking, and sometimes running. I’m making a small investment of my time, but it yields good results. I try to maximize the effects of my efforts by doing these 2 things:

consistently working out over an long period of time and avoid skipping workouts if at all possible
aware of what I eat and make good small decisions on a constant basis (this is the hardest part for me and I don’t always succeed)
Diets don’t work in the long run, because you can’t be consistent in the long run. Instead what changes can you make that are changes that you can maintain. I have a long way to go on my personal dietary choices, but I’ve managed to maintain a comfortable weight.

With all the craziness going on the in world, one of the things that you can control is your physical fitness and what / how much you eat. Stress exacerbates many things including the effects of poor physical fitness and an overweight condition. If times get tough, then starting out a crisis in good physical condition is a very good thing.

More and more people are concerned about food security. A few years ago, the concept of food security was relegated to discussions of the distance food traveled to reach the grocery store. The United States is awakening to the terrible fact that politics impacts your ability to obtain food for your family. We watch as federal, often state and local governments, put misguided ideologies in place instead of comment sense. Don't be a victim of malicious and power hungry people who seem to want more and more power over you. They take control so they can have power.

You can take that power back. Raise part of your food. Backyard chickens are a great way to do that. Self-reliance is now critical to protecting your family from the whims or politicians who want to rule your life and will do anything to have power over you, including taking away your food. This would have sounded crazy a few years ago, but after the last year, it just doesn't seem all that far fetched.

A great way to raise part of your food is backyard chickens and ducks. Homegrown eggs are wonderful and nutritious. Listen into this podcast as we discuss the practical differences between chickens and ducks and geese when it comes to raising your own food.

On May 19, 1796, the first game law was approved in the United States. The law created penalties for hunting or destroying game within Indian Territory. Modern American fish and game laws make “living off the land” nearly impossible, outside of Alaska. — SurvivalBlog Writing Contest Today we present another entry for Round 100 of […]

On May 18th, 1980, Mount St. Helens in Washington erupted, causing a massive avalanche and killing 57 people. Ash from the volcanic eruption fell as far away as Minnesota. Seismic activity at Mount St. Helens, which is 96 miles south of Seattle, began on March 16. A 4.2-magnitude tremor was recorded four days later and […]
